During the summer, fireworks displays are common throughout Japan.
The Japanese word for fireworks is "hanabi" which literally means "flowers of fire".
During Ito's annual hanabi "tai kai" ["grand meet"], some 130 thousand pieces are expended from six locations along the City's waterfront within a one-hour show.
