During the summer, fireworks displays are common throughout Japan.
The Japanese word for fireworks is "hanabi" which literally means "flowers of fire".
Here, simultaneous blossoms from several locations along the waterfront during Ito's annual hanabi "tai kai" ["grand meet"], during which some 130 thousand pieces are expended within a one-hour show.
