Crossing the bridge at Takayama.
The annual Spring festival at Hida Takayama in the highlands of central Japan features processions of large wheeled floats dating from the 16th century.
These floats are sumptuously decorated with intricate carvings, rich tapestries, and lacquer finishes.
Here, one of the floats is drawn across the Nakabayashi [central bridge] among blooming cherry trees and green willows.
